INVITATION TO HOLY COMMUNION

Holy Communion is a special Gift that Jesus has given to His Church.  This Gift is a Sacrament through which Jesus forgives our sins, strengthens our faith and helps us to remember His death and resurrection for our forgiveness.
Immanuel Lutheran Church confesses in unity the Biblical teaching that this gift is intended for those who:
  •  Have been baptized and believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
  • Recognize and believe that we are receiving not just the bread and wine but also the true Body and Blood of Jesus in, with, and under the consecrated bread and wine
  • Are desiring to turn away from their sins by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  •  Are willing to forgive others as Jesus has forgiven you.
If, after personal reflection, you determine that…
  • Your beliefs are not consistent with these points…
or
  •  You are knowingly and intentionally living in a state of unrepentant sin…
or
  • You have not received instruction regarding Holy Communion from the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod...
…we ask that, for your own spiritual well-being, you would please refrain from receiving Holy Communion at Immanuel until you have talked with one of our Pastors or one of our Elders due to the caution that the Bible has given to us:
“Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.”  (1 Corinthians 11: 27)
Pastor Jim, Pastor Dave, or one of our Elders would welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone who is seeking guidance about the Christian Faith or who would like to receive Holy Communion at Immanuel in the future.
Special Note:  Gluten-free bread and non-alcoholic wine are available upon request at the Communion Rail.
